Physicists, as we all know, are people that try to figure out the font with which God wrote the universe. If the Big Bang was the Word said in the empty, then there must be space enough for Angels. Of course, their place is as the transferrers of interaction!
In the middle ages, the cosmologists of the day always drew angels guiding planets, subtly altering their trajectory. Today's Bosons do the same thing for particles created by the Big Bang - Leptones and Andrones. So that's why this artwork is called “Angel of the weak nuclear force, Angel of the W- and Z- bosons”
As anything dealing with elementary particles and quantum theory, the picture includes a vision of the fourth dimension, so anatomy shortcomings can be ignored :) :P
